Artistic glass craftsmanship
The ancient technique of French master glassmakers in Milan
At the Grassi Artistic Stained Glass Laboratory in Milan, each artistic stained glass window stems from a rigorous artisanal process that is rooted in the ancient technique of French master glassmakers. The production process starts with an in-depth study of the project: a specialized designer creates a scale sketch, which is then transferred into a life-size drawing. In this phase, the customer is directly involved in the choice of glass colors and in the definition of the technical cuts that will make up the final work. The highest quality colored glasses are hand cut, lead bonded and tin welded with the precision that only decades of experience can guarantee.
When the project requires it, the pictorial interventions are performed with vitrifiable grisaille, fired at high heat to ensure an unlimited duration over time. The result is a unique work, destined to last over the centuries, that combines artistic beauty and technical solidity. The Milanese laboratory can be visited by appointment: anyone who wishes to closely observe each phase of the processing is free to contact the company to organize a visit.
